Description:
SELS is a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. The selenocysteine is encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTR of selenoprotein genes have a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. Studies suggest that this protein may regulate cytokine production, and thus play a key role in the control of the inflammatory response.This gene encodes a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. KappaB ras Antibody: KappaB ras-1 ( kappa B-ras-1) and kappaB-ras-2 are two small proteins that similar to Ras-like small GTPases that associate with I kappa B (I kappa B), an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa B. I kappa B exists in two homologous forms, I kappa B-alpha and I kappa B-beta, although I kappa B-beta contains a unique 47-amino acid region within its ankyrin domain. While inactive I kappa B-alpha-NF-kappa B complexes can shuttle in and out of the nucleus, I kappa B-beta-NF-kappa B complexes are retained exclusively in the cytoplasm. It is suggested that kappaB-ras proteins preferentially bind to the I kappa B-beta form through this unique insert within the ankyrin region, thus modulating the cellular location of I kappa B-beta and regulating the rate of degradation of I kappa B-beta. This antibody detects both kappaB-ras1 and kappaB-ras2.

BMI-1 Antibody: The transcriptional repressor BMI-1 was first identified as a proto-oncogene frequently activated by Moloney murine leukemia proviral insertions in mice and cooperating with c-myc in the generation of mouse lymphomas. BMI-1 is involved in segment specification, cell growth and maintenance, transcriptional regulation, and chromatin modification. A major target of BMI-1 is the ink4a locus which encodes tumor suppressor proteins p16 and p19Arf, which are important in tumor progression and thought to be critical in cell proliferation and senescence. Recent studies have also shown that BMI-1 is required for the maintenance of adult normal and leukemic stem cells, suggesting that BMI-1 could an attractive therapeutic target for stem cell proliferation and renewal as well as for anti-cancer strategies.

Human signal recognition particle 54kDa. The signal recognition particle (SRP) is an oligomeric complex that mediates targeting and insertion of the signal sequence of exported proteins into the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum. SRP consists of a 7S RNA and six protein subunits. 54 kD protein (SRP54) is one of these subunits. It is a GTP-binding protein that interacts with the signal sequence when it emerges from the ribosome. The 54K subunit of the signal recognition particle has a two domain structure: the G-domain that binds GTP and the M-domain that binds the 7s RNA and also binds the signal sequence. The N-terminal 300 residues of SRP54 include the GTP-binding site (G-domain) and are evolutionary related to similar domains in other proteins.
