CCL24 (eotaxin-2) has been shown to induce chemotaxis of eosinophils, basophils and resting T lymphocytes but not monocytes and activated T lymphocytes. CCL24 is a strong suppressor of colony formation by a multipotential hematopoietic progenitor cell line. CCL24 interacts with chemokine receptor CCR3 to induce chemotaxis in eosinophils. Elevated levels of CCL24 has been seen in patients with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), such as asthma.

CCL22 (C-C Motif Chemokine 22; Stimulated T cell chemotactic protein; STCP1) is a CC chemokine initially isolated from clones of monocyte-derived macrophages and binds to the receptor CCR4. Human CCL22 is highly expressed in macrophage and in monocyte-derived dendritic cells and thymus. It is also found in lymph node, appendix, activated monocytes, resting and activated macrophages. May play a role in the trafficking of activated/effector T lymphocytes to inflammatory sites and other aspects of activated T lymphocyte physiology. CCL22 has been shown to induce chemotaxis or Ca2+ mobilisation in dendritic cells, IL-2 activated NK cells and activated T lymphocytes.

IL-36A is is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family whose gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. IL-36A is thought to activate the NF-kappaB pathway through IL-1 receptor family members IL-1RL2 and IL-1RAcP. Like the related proteins IL-36B and IL-36G, IL-36A requires post-translational processing for full agonist activity, but the cleavage mechanism is currently unknown. Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) is a 47 kDa secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the non-inhibitory serpin family group. PEDF is widely expressed in adult and foetal tissues, including brain, spinal cord, plasma, bone, prostate, pancreas, heart and lung. PEDF acts as an angiogenesis inhibitor with neurotrophic, immunomodulation and antitumor properties. It functions as anti-angiogenic agent by counterbalancing the proangiogenic effect of VEGF. PEDF is one of the most abundant proteins released by adipocytes and induces insulin resistance in adipocytes and human skeletal muscle cells. Recently, it has been reported that PEDF is sufficient to maintain the self-renewal of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells.

Interleukin 37 (IL-37) is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. It can bind to, and may be a ligand for interleukin 18 receptor (IL18R1/IL-1Rrp). IL-37 also binds to interleukin 18 binding protein (IL18BP), an inhibitory binding protein of interleukin 18 (IL18), and subsequently forms a complex with IL18 receptor beta subunit, and through which it inhibits the activity of IL18. IL-37 can also interact with Smad3 and expression of IL-37 in macrophages or epithelial cells resulted in near complete suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, suggesting that IL-37 may act as a natural suppressor of the innate inflammatory and immune responses.
