Description:   Interleukin-15 receptor subunit alpha, also known as Il15ra, is a high-affinity receptor for interleukin-15. Il15ra associates as a heterotrimer with the IL-2 receptor beta and gamma subunits (Common gamma chain, or gamma c) to initiate signal transduction. It can signal both in cis and trans where IL15R from one subset of cells presents IL15 to neighboring IL2RG-expressing cells. Il15ra is expressed in special cells including a wide variety of Tand B cells and non-lymphoid cells. Human Il15ra shares 45% amino acid sequence homology with the mouse form of the receptor. Eight isoforms of IL-15 R alpha mRNA have been identified, resulting from alternative splicing events involving different exons.Interleukin 15 (IL-15) is a cytokine that regulates T cell and natural killer cell activation and proliferation. IL-15 binds to the alpha subunit of the IL15 receptor (IL-15RA) with high affinity. IL-15 also binds to the beta and gamma chains of the IL-2 receptor, but not the alpha subunit of the IL2 receptor. IL-15 is structurally and functionally related to IL-2. Both cytokines share some subunits of receptors, allowing them to compete for and negatively regulate each other's activity. The number of CD8+ memory T cells is controlled by a balance between IL-15 and IL-2. Despite their many overlapping functional properties, IL-2 and IL-15 are, in fact, quite distinct players in the immune system. IL-15 is constitutively expressed by a wide variety of cell types and tissues, including monocytes, macrophages and DCs.

Description:   The IL12 receptor complex, formed by IL12RB1 and IL12RB2, mediates the type I immune responses of various types of lymphocytes. Its ligand, IL12, is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of IL-12p35 and IL-12p40 subunits that are linked via disulphide bonds. Ligation of IL-12 to its receptor involves the binding of IL-12p35 to IL12RB1 and IL-12p40 to IL12RB2. This will result in the activation of tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), which is associated with the IL12RB1 chain and Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), which is associated with the IL12RB2 chain. Activated TYK2 and JAK2 direct the phosphorylation of STAT4. IL12RB1 is present on all lymphocytes, while the expression of IL12RB2 is tightly regulated. It has shown that the expression of IL12RB2 is limited to Th2 cells. IL12RB2 subunit plays an important role in Th1 cell differentiation, since its absence leads to an abortive Th1 differentiation that has dysfunctional production of Th1 effector molecules.

Description:   Interleukin 23 receptor (IL23R), a heterodimer of the IL12 receptor beta 1 (IL12R beta 1) and IL12R beta 2, is a type I cytokine receptor for IL23. IL23R is comprised of two subunits, the IL12R beta 1 subunit, which is shared with several cytokines, and a subunit that is unique to IL-23. IL23, after binding to IL23R, activates memory T cells and mediates pro-inflammatory activities in part by the production of IL17 through activation of TH17 lymphocytes. IL23R is expressed on T cells, NK cells, dendritic cells, and macrophages. In fact, polymorphisms of the IL23R gene were reported to be associated with susceptibility to inflammatory diseases and autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, Graves's ophthalmopathy and inflammatory bowel diseases. It is the ligand for two different proteins on the T cell surface: CD28 and CTLA-4. Studies have shown that CTLA-4 binds mostly to CD80. Description:   Heat-Responsive Protein 12 (HRSP12) is an endoribonuclease that belongs to the Rut family. HRSP12 is found mainly in the human adult kidney and liver and is responsible for inhibiting protein translation by cleaving mRNA. HRSP12 only cleaves phosphodiester bonds in single-stranded RNA and inhibits cell-free protein synthesis. The levels of both mRNA and protein are markedly reduced in heptatocellular tumors and in human hepatoma cell lines compared with normal liver tissues. Moreover the levels of HRSP12 are different depending on the grade of the tumor. This had led to the suggestion that HRSP12 may be an important biomarker for heptatic carcinoma.

Description:   Cell Growth Regulator with EF Hand Domain Protein 1 (CGREF1) is a secreted calcium ion binding protein. CGREF1 contains two EF-hand domains and both EF-hands are required for function. Human CGREF1 is synthesized as a 301 amino acid precursor that contains a 19 amino acid signal sequence, and a 282 amino acid mature chain. CGREF1 is probably digested extracellularly by an unknown serine protease generating extremely hydrophobic bioactive peptides. CGREF1 mediates cell-cell adhesion in a calcium-dependent manner. In addition, CGREF1 is able to inhibit growth in several cell lines.

The protein is a member of the VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) sub-family-a key molecule in angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, in particular during embryogenesis. The main source of PGF during pregnancy is the placental trophoblast. PGF is also expressed in many other tissues, including the villous trophoblast.
