6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PFKFB1 gene. The enzyme forms a homodimer that catalyses both the synthesis and degradation of fructose-2,6-biphosphate using independent catalytic domains. It belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family. Fructose-2,6-biphosphate is an activator of the glycolysis pathway and an inhibitor of the gluconeogenesis pathway. Consequently, regulating fructose-2,6-biphosphate levels through the activity of this enzyme is thought to regulate glucose homeostasis.

IL-6 induces signallling through a cell surface heterodimeric receptor complex composed of a ligand binding subunit (IL-6R) and a signal transducing subunit (gp130). IL-6 is a key factor for the growth of plasma cells.

OSMR beta associates with gp130 to form the type II OSM receptor, the receptor is responsive to OSM. The human OSMR beta cDNA encodes a 979 amino acid (aa) precursor, the precursor includes a 27 aa signal sequence, a 712 aa extracellular domain (ECD), a 22 aatransmembrane segment, and a 218 aa cytoplasmic domain. Neurexophilin-1 (NXPH1) is a member of Neurexophilin family. NXPH1 consist of 271 amino acis. It contains a 21 amino acid signal peptide, 86 amino acid propeptide, and 164 amino acid mature protein. NXPH1 is expressed in subpopulations of neurons within the cerebral cortex, cerebellum and olfactory bulb that are thought to be inhibitory interneurons. In humans, NXPH2 and NXPH3 are most similar to NXPH1, sharing 84% and 64% aa identity within the mature region, respectively. By contrast, NXPH4 dost not bind a-neurexins. Genetic deletion of NXPH1 or NXPH3 produces no anatomical effect.

Semaphorin-5A (SEMA5A) is a member of the Semaphorin family of axon guidance molecules. SEMA5A is a 140 kDa protein. Class 5 Semaphorins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins with an N- terminal Sema domain and multiple juxtamembrane type 1 Thrombospondin (TSP) repeats within their extracellular domains. SEMA5A is expressed in neuroepithelial cells surrounding retinal axons, oligodendrocytes, the base of limb buds, the mesoderm surrounding cranial vessels , and the cardiac atrial septum and endocardial cushions, Human SEMA5A cDNA encodes a signal sequence, a extracellular domain (ECD), a transmembrane sequence and an cytoplasmic portion. SEMA5A mutations have been implicated in the genetic syndrome,cri-du-chat,while some polymorphisms may increase risk for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson. The expression of SEMA5A may be upregulated in metastatic cancer cells and downregulated in autism.
