Alpha-2-antiplasmin, also called Serpin F2, is a serine protease inhibitor (serpin) responsible for inactivating plasmin, and an important enzyme participates in fibrinolysis and degradation of other proteins. In liver cirrhosis, there is decreased production of alpha 2-antiplasmin, leading to decreased inactivation of plasmin and an increase in fibrinolysis. Serpin F2 is major expressed on liver and kidney. Some other tissues such as muscle, intestine, central nervous system, and placenta also express Serpin F2 mRNA at a moderate level indicated that it is a key regulator of plasmin-mediated proteolysis in these tissues.

OX40 ligand (OX40L), also called CD252, is a single-pass type II membrane protein of the TNF/TNF receptor superfamily. OX40L is expressed by DCs, macrophages and B cells and signals via its cognate receptor OX40 which is mainly expressed on APCs. OX40L/OX40 interactions are important in T-cell activation and survival and for the generation of memory T cells from activated effector T cells. OX40L–OX40 co-stimulation leads to activation of TNF receptor associated factor (TRAF) 2, 3 and 5. This pathway has been shown to prolong the survival of effector CD4+Th cells as well as contributes to generation of memory T cells.

Uteroglobin-Related Protein 1 (UGRP1) belongs to the secretoglobin family which has been suggested to play a role in lung inflammation and allergic diseases. UGRP1 is a 17 kDa secreted homodimeric protein that shows amino acid sequence similarity with uteroglobin. UGRP1 is expressed predominantly in the lung and low levels of expression are detected in the thyroid. Expression of UGRP1 in lung epithelial cells is enhanced by IL-10 and decreased through the activities of IL-9 and IL-5. UGRP1 interacts with the macrophage scavenger receptor with collagenous structure which is expressed by alveolar macrophages in the lung. It have suggested that UGRP1 may be involved in inflammation and pathogen clearance in the lung by binding to its receptor.

Transthyretin (TTR) is also known as Prealbumin, ATTR, TBPA, PALB, which belongs to the transthyretin family. Transthyretin / TTR is a serum and cerebrospinal fluid carrier of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4) and retinol-binding protein bound to retinol. In cerebrospinal fluid TTR is the primary carrier of T4. TTR also acts as a carrier of retinol (vitamin A) through its association with retinol-binding protein (RBP) in the blood and the CSF. Less than 1% of TTR's T4 binding sites are occupied in blood. TTR misfolding and aggregation is known to be associated with the amyloid diseases.

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10B (TNFRSF10B) is also known as TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand receptor 2 (TRAILR2), Death receptor 5 (DR5), CD262, KILLER, is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily, and contains an intracellular death domain. TNFRSF10B / DR-5 is widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues; very highly expressed in tumor cell lines. TRAILR2 / CD262 / DR5 is the receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TNFSF10/TRAIL. The adapter molecule FADD (a death domain containing adaptor protein) of TRAIL-R2 / TNFRSF10B recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. Serotransferrin belongs to transferrin family, and contains 2 transferrin-like domains. The protein is a secreted protein, and expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion. Growth/differentiation factor 8(Mstn, GDF-8) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterised by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. It is expressed specifically in developing and adult skeletal muscle. It exists as a homodimer, and interacts with WFIKKN2, leading to inhibit its activity. This protein can act specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. It regulates cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues.

Dtk, also called Tyro3, belongs to the TAM receptor family of receptor protein tyrosine kinases (RPTKs) composed of three receptors Tyro3, Axl, and Mer. These receptors share a characteristic molecular structure of two immunoglobulin-like and two fibronectin type III repeats and have been best Characterised for their roles in immune regulation, fertility, thrombosis and phagocytosis. Gas6 and protein S have been identified as ligands for these receptors. Gas6 binding induces tyrosine phosphorylation and downstream signallling pathways that can lead to cell proliferation, migration, or the prevention of apoptosis. Tyro3 and Axl play important regulatory roles in a variety of tissues, including the central nervous, reproductive, immune, and vascular systems. Tyro3 is widely expressed during embryonic development and preferentially expressed during neurogenesis in the central nervous system.

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) is a heme enzyme that initiates the oxidative degradation of the least abundant, essential amino acid, l-tryptophan, along the kynurenine pathway. This protein is normally expressed in the dendritic cells, macrophages, microglia, eosinophils, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and most tumour cells. IDO activity is associated with immunosuppression and immune attenuation. Several studies showed that IDO can contribute to immune escape when expressed directly in tumour cells or when expressed in immunosuppressive antigen presenting cells such as tolerogenic dendritic cells or tumour associated macrophages. IDO also is a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of cancer, chronic viral infections, and other diseases characterised by pathological immune suppression.
