Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box protein 13(ASB13) is a member of the ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing (ASB) family. ASB13 contain six ankyrin repeats sequence and a SOCS box domain. The SOCS box serves to couple suppressor of cytokine signalling (SOCS) proteins and their binding partners with the elongin B and C complex, possibly targeting them for degradation. ASB13 may be a substrate-recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins.

Human NEDD8 shares 60% amino acid sequence identity to ubiquitin. The only known substrates of NEDD8 modification are the cullin subunits of SCF ubiquitin E3 ligases. Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 4(PIN4) is a peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase (PPIase) which interacts with NIMA and is vital for cell cycle regulation. PIN4 has 2 different isoforms: PAR14 and PAR17. Furthermore, PIN4 protein binds to double-stranded DNA under physiological salt conditions. PIN4 is involved as a ribosomal RNA processing factor in ribosome biogenesis. The PAR14 binds to tightly bent AT-rich stretches of double-stranded DNA, but PAR17 binds to double-stranded DNA.
