IHH acts through the patched (PTC) receptor to induce transcriptional changes important for bone and cartilage development. Intelectin-1(ITLN1) is a secreted protein and contains 1 fibrinogen C-terminal domain. Intelectin-1 is a 40 kDa Ca-dependent galactofuranose-binding lectin that is not a C-type lectin. It is expressed on multiple cell types and appears to participate in insulin signaling and microbe recognition. The protein has no effect on basal glucose uptake but enhances insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in adipocytes. It increases AKT phosphorylation in the absence and presence of insulin and it may play a role in the defense systemagainst microorganisms. Tripartite motif-containing Motif 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TRIM5 gene.It is a 493 amino acids protein that belongs to the TRIM/RBCC family.It contains 1 B box-type zinc finger, 1 B30.2/SPRY domain and 1 RING-type zinc finger. Stromal Cell-Derived Factor-1 (SDF-1) is a chemokine member of the intercrine family. SDF1 is expressed as five isoforms that differ only in the C terminal tail. SDF1 alpha and SDF1 beta are identical except for the four residues present in the C-terminus of SDF1 beta but absent from SDF1 alpha. Lumican (LUM) is also known as Keratan sulfate proteoglycan lumican, KSPG lumican,LDC and SLRR2D, which belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family and SLRP class II subfamily. LUM /Lumican is present in the extracellular matrix of human articular cartilage at all ages, although its abundance is far greater in the adult. In the adult cartilage LUM /Lumican exists predominantly in a glycoprotein form lacking keratan sulfate, whereas the juvenile form of the molecule is a proteoglycan. LUM participates in the maintenance of tissue homeostasis and modulates cellular functions including cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Ly6/PLAUR domain-containing protein 3 (LYPD3) is also known as MIG-C4 ,C4.4A, GPI-anchored metastasis-associated protein C4.4A homolog and Matrigel-induced gene C4 protein,which is a cell membrane protein containing two UPAR/Ly6 domains. LYPD3 is expressed in placenta, skin and urothelium. LYPD3 is found in the majority of primary and metastatic transitional cell carcinomas (TCCs) and as well in breast cancer tissues, but not in adjacent normal tissues. LYPD3 play a role in supporting cell migration and it is not only probably involved in urothelial cell-matrix interactions, but also in tumor progression.
