Description:   CD5 Antigen-Like (CD5L) is a soluble protein that belongs to group B of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily and contains three SRCR domains. CD5L is a secreted glycoprotein and expressed by macrophages presentin lymphoid tissues. It binds to myelomonocytic and lymphoid cells and may play an important role in the regulation of the innate and adaptive immune systems. CD5L functions as a pattern recognition molecule by binding both lipoteichoic acid (LTA) on Gram positive and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on Gram-negative bacteria and the SRCR domain one of CD5L retains both the LPS and LTA binding activities. Furthermore, CD5L seems to play a role as an inhibitor of apoptosis.

Description:   Complement Factor H-Related 1 (CFHR1) is a 43 kDa secreted member of the factor H family of glycoproteins. The human Complement Factor H protein family consists of the complement and immune regulators factor H, the factor H-like protein 1 (FHL-1) and five factor H-related proteins (CFHR-1 to -5). Members of the H-related protein family are exclusively composed of individually folded protein domains, termed short consensus repeats (SCRs) or complement control modules. FHR1 is produced by hepatocytes and circulates as two differentially glycosylated isoforms (37 kDa and 43 kDa). Mature human FHR1 is 312 amino acids in length. It contains five, approximately 60 aa SCRs that basically constitute the entire molecule. FHR1 may play a role in complement regulation, lipid metabolism and lipoprotein complexes that bind PMNs to LPS.

Description:   Differential screening-selected gene aberrative in neuroblastoma (DAN) is a member of the DAN family of secreted glycoproteins. DAN family antagonists are Characterised by a DAN domain that contains a cystine knot motif which is essential for binding to BMP ligands. Members of this family include DAN, gremlin, protein related to DAN and cerberus (PRDC), cerberus, sclerostin (SOST) and uterine sensitisation-associated gene 1 protein, and control diverse processes in growth, development and the cell cycle. It has also been reported that DAN family plays crucial role in early mouse embryo development by inhibiting the action of bone morphogenic proteins and modulating the action of transforming growth factor- beta superfamily members. DAN is Synthesised by small-to intermediate-sised DRG neurons and transported to the sensory nerve terminals in the skin or to the sensory nerve terminals in the dorsal horn. It has been reported that DAN is ubiquitously expressed in adult rat and human tissues. Morphological studies have revealed that, in adult rat, DAN mRNA is expressed ubiquitously in lung and brain, but not in liver.

Description:   Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (Nampt; pre-B cell colony-enhancing factor; PBEF; Visfatin) is an 52kDa adipokine secreted by adipose tissue and involved in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). Description:   ERO1-Like Protein alpha (ERO1L) is an enzyme that belongs to the EROs family. ERO1L is expressed at high level in esophagus and upper digestive tract. ERO1L is an essential oxidoreductase that oxidizes proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum to produce disulfide bonds. ERO1L acts by oxidizing directly P4HB/PDI isomerase through a direct disulfide exchange. It associates with ERP44, demonstrating that it does not oxidize all PDI related proteins and can discriminate between PDI and related proteins. Its reoxidation probably involves electron transfer to molecular oxygen via FAD. ERO1L may be responsible for a significant proportion of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cell.
