Description:   40S ribosomal protein S7(RPS7) belongs to the S7E family of ribosomal proteins. It is phosphorylated by NEK6 during post-translational modification. RPS7 is located in the cytoplasm, binds IPO9 with high affinity. it also can interacts with NEK6. As is required for rRNA maturation and typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. The unnormal expression of RPS7 may cause Diamond-Blackfan anemia 8.

Description:   Heat shock protein beta-8 (HSPB8) belongs to the small heat shock protein (HSP20) family. This protein can be inducted by 17-beta-estradiol, and is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and heat, mainly located in the cytoplasm and nucleus. HSPB8 usually exists in monomer, it can interact with HSPB1 and DNAJB6. HSPB8 displays temperature-dependent chaperone activity, appears to be involved in regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis, and mutations in this gene have been associated with different neuromuscular diseases, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.

Description:   Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase-like N (PTPRN) belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family and receptor class 8 subfamily. PTPRN contains 1 tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain, is expressed in neuroendocrine cells only. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. It implicated in neuroendocrine secretory processes. It may be involved in processes specific for neurosecretory granules, such as their biogenesis, trafficking or regulated exocytosis or may have a general role in neuroendocrine functions. It seems to lack intrinsic enzyme activity, may play a role in the regulation of secretory granules via its interaction with SNTB2. This PTP was found to be an autoantigen that is reactive with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) patient sera, and thus may be a potential target of autoimmunity in diabetes mellitus.

Description:   The TIM (T cell/transmembrane, immunoglobulin and mucin) family plays a critical role in regulating immune responses, including allergy, asthma, transplant tolerance, autoimmunity and the response to viral infections. The unique structure of TIM immunoglobulin variable region domains allows highly specific recognition of phosphatidylserine (PtdSer), exposed on the surface of apoptotic cells. Tim-3, a type I transmembrane protein, contains an immunoglobulin and a mucin-like domain in its extracellular portion and a tyrosine phosphorylation motif in its cytoplasmic portion. TIM-3 is preferentially expressed on Th1 and Tc1 cells, and generates an inhibitory signal resulting in apoptosis of Th1 and Tc1 cells. TIM-3 is also expressed on some dendritic cells and can mediate phagocytosis of apoptotic cells and cross-presentation of antigen. Tim-3 functions to inhibit aggressive Th1-mediated auto- and alloimmune responses. Tim-3 pathway blockade by administration of Tim-3:Fc fusion protein accelerated diabetes in nonobese diabetic mice, caused hyperproliferation of Th1 cells and Th1 cytokine release in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model and prevented acquisition of transplantation tolerance induced by costimulation blockade.

Description:   Mouse T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 4, also known as T cell membrane protein 4, TIMD4 and TIM4 is a single-pass type I membrane protein which belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and TIM family. TIM4 contains one Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. It is expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. TIM4 plays an important role in the proliferation of T helper type 2 (Th2) cells. TIM4 is involved in regulating T cell proliferation and lymphotoxin signalling. It is a ligand for HAVCR1 / TIMD1. The expression of TIM4 in fibroblasts enhanced their ability to engulf apoptotic cells. TIM4 and TIM1 are phosphatidylserine receptors for the engulfment of apoptotic cells and may also be involved in intercellular signalling in which exosomes are involved. Modulation of TIM4 production in dendritic cells (DCs) represents a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of peanut allergy.

Description:   TIP60 is the catalytic subunit of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex which is involved in transcriptional activation of selected genes principally by acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. This modification may both alter nucleosome-DNA interactions and promote interaction of the modified histones with other proteins which positively regulate transcription. This complex is required for the activation of transcriptional programs associated with oncogene and proto-oncogene mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor mediated growth arrest and replicative senescence, apoptosis and DNA repair. NuA4 may also play a direct role in DNA repair when recruited to sites of DNA damage. TIP60 directly acetylates and activates ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM). In case of HIV-1 infection, interaction with the viral Tat protein leads to KAT5 polyubiquitination and targets it to degradation.

Description:   Leptin is a hormone secreted from white adipocytes and plays important role in the regulation of food intake and energy balance. Leptin functions via signaling pathways involving OB-R in hypothalamus. Animal models have revealed the influence of Leptin in reducing body weight and regulating blood glucose level. When mutations are introduced in obese gene, mice with impaired function of leptin are massively obese and in high risk of diabetes. Leptin deficiency reduces metablic rate. Leptin deficient mice are less active and with lower body temperature than normal animals. Human Leptin shares approximately 84% sequence identity with the mouse protein. Human Leptin consists of 167 amino acid residue including a 21 amino acid residue signal sequence and 146 amino acid residue mature protein sequence.

Description:   Stromal Cell-Derived Factor-1 (SDF-1) is a chemokine member of the intercrine family. SDF1 is expressed as five isoforms that differ only in the C terminal tail. SDF1 alpha and SDF1 beta are identical except for the four residues present in the C-terminus of SDF1 beta but absent from SDF1 alpha. SDF1 isoforms interact with CXCR4 and CXCR7 receptors on the cell surface, and can also bind syndecan4. SDF1 is known to influence lymphopoiesis, regulate patterning and cell number of neural progenitors, and promote angiogenesis. It also enhances the survival of myeloid progenitor cells.

Description:   Interleukin 3 (IL-3) is a cytokine that is produced by activated T cells and mast cells. IL-3 induces the differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into myeloid precursor cells, such as erythrocyte, megakaryocyte, granulocyte, monocyte, and dendritic cells. IL-3 also functions in the nervous system and is important during the B-1 cell regulation of chronic inflammatory diseases.
